As we wait with bated breath for the forthcoming release of the third iteration of the hugely popular Black Ops branch of the franchise, Sledgehammer want to squeeze every last drop of fun out of last year's game in the final expansion. And they sure know how to do that in style. New maps keep things fresh as you blast the hell out of like-minded players around the globe and new weapons give you the chance to test out a shiny new arsenal whilst you're at it. Personally, I found that the final instalment of the Exo-zombies mode delivered on every front and it has become a mainstay of my co-op based shenanigans. Although I have to admit that I would love to see additional solo missions in future DLC packs, the final four multiplayer maps are brilliantly designed and each suits multiple play styles. Definitely enough to keep you going until the next midnight launch. (4.5)

Once the hype machine has its gears oiled, it's difficult to stop it from running on overdrive and spiralling out of control. Far too often gamers are teased with dramatic trailers that set the bar at phenomenal levels, only for the finished product to fall far short of the standards set by the company who are pushing it. Hoisted by their own petard, as it were. But occasionally, only occasionally mind you, a game fully delivers on those promises. Hideo Kojima is nothing if not ambitious, but he is also a man of his word and one of a select few industry players who strive for perfection in everything they do. This is his magnum opus and nothing short of spectacular in every regard: graphically stunning, insanely engaging, perfectly paced, well written, painstakingly produced and playable to the extreme. Stealth-Action perfected and one of the best games ever. Absolute class. (5)
