Overview
Locally known as ‘Matekoane’, this strain can be located in the high mountainous Kingdom of Lesotho. As with many countries early history is mixed with myth and legend but it is well known that ‘business’ deals were made with Cannabis as far back as 1550. By the late 19th Century Cannabis was still one of the main crops in Lesotho along with sorghum and beans. Farmers sow between mid August and early October which is the southern spring. Harvesting occurs at the end of the summer, between February and April. Matekoane is still named one of seven herbs most often used for its curing properties. It is still used by rural people for high blood pressure, childbirth and Asthma as well as having benefits for the animals as it is said to rid them of parasites. Sotho Heights come from the Highlands that sees snow most winters so it is naturally acclimated to colder climate compared to other African landraces. It does not grow as high as other Sativa strains but has the typical traits of long slender stems and leaves. The buds are nicely dusted in trichomes and are relatively dense. It has an earthy, mild coffee taste with a lemony, sweet and sour tone. A great sativa strain that leaves you both energetic and relaxed, giving you an ultimate feeling of well being.
