High Grade Bud and High Grade Dub

The idea of heading out in the search for greener pastures is nothing new and for many this is the epitome of the concept of The American Dream.

Whether someone is searching for work, fame, better living standards or simply a place that they can call their own, we all hope that we can find our own slice of happiness yet many of us are too afraid to dedicate ourselves to the things we desire the most. Most of us know that "life is what happens while you're making other plans" and the reality of working a typical 9-5 while trying to make ends meet often prevents us from aiming higher or hoping for more for ourselves, but that doesn't mean that we should resign ourselves to believing that there isn't something better just waiting around the corner. Some people might spend their whole life dreaming about what they would like their life to be like while others step up to the plate and try to grab their moment with both hands.

With the ever-changing landscape of state-by-state amendments to laws and regulations, many people are finding themselves drawn to places where cultivation and consumption are now allowed in order to medicate, enjoy the culture with like-minded individuals or even move into the industry for themselves. It's funny to think that there was always the myth floating around that anyone who smoked weed was some kind of idle loser who would never amount to anything and now we find endless stories of entrepreneurs who tirelessly dedicate themselves to building their own route to success whilst enjoying all the benefits that cannabis consumption can deliver.

One such person came to our attention recently who encapsulates all of these ideals and is finding some success across the fields of both music and marijuana through their collaborations with artists from across the globe and their work with others within the rapidly-expanding cannabis industry.Music and cannabis seem to have always enjoyed a close relationship with each other and while some artists are very forward in exploring their love for it in their songs, countless others count it as a key part of their creative process. This is almost a symbiotic relationship for some people, as their enjoyment of getting high has a direct correlation to them getting in the zone when putting pen to paper or preparing to perform. It would be hard to imagine a world where music had never been changed by its tender touch.Sean Barbas, better known by his stage name of Xian Juan (pronounced like Shawn One), has a quest to achieve great things across both of his passions and has been making waves over the past few years.

Moving on to pastures new from Phoenix, Arizona, Sean wanted to seek out new opportunities on the back of Colorado's move to legalize recreational cannabis in 2012. To begin with, he wanted to make some contacts and establish his reputation, so he worked around the state by cropping grows and ensuring it was done properly and effectively. He soon began to gain a reputation because of his wealth of knowledge and he quickly gained the respect of the wider community. This recognition was cemented when he was dubbed as a certified 'strain nerd'  by the first published pot critic, William Breathes, with many others being quick to acknowledge that this was a well-deserved moniker.

For Sean, his move to Colorado was always meant to be part of a bigger plan and he soon made moves to set up his own grows with the aim of making CBD edibles and topical lotions for pain relief to an incredibly high standard. All the while he was trying to expand his range of credentials through study, research and working towards gaining additional accreditations in the world of weed. To this point he has successfully gained the title of a Certified Cannabis Consultant from The Trichome Institute and even managed to earn the right to be labeled as an American Culinary Federation Edibles Chef thanks to his incredible, rapid-acting CBD gummies (that are out of this world). You'd think that there would be little time for Sean to enjoy any other aspects of life but he manages to not only maintain his role as a father and cannabis connoisseur but also somehow manages to be a successful DJ and producer.

When he's not growing high-grade cannabis or making top-tier edibles, Sean is making and releasing music through labels around the world and finding opportunities to work alongside other artists to expand his repertoire. Not content with growing, trimming, cutting, cooking, smoking, eating or gaining qualifications in cannabis, he also brings his love for it into tracks, making high-grade music about high-grade strains. Last year he released Rodi Ganja on Box Fulla Records (their debut release) and this year he is back with Any Sound which even features a remix from a legendary artist on the Jungle scene, Undercover Agent aka Splash, who created the all-time classic anthem Babylon.

People often say that if you work in a job you love then you never truly work a day in your life, and people like Sean who manage to intertwine their passions with their daily routine are testament to the idea of following your dreams. Trying to carve out your own path in this crazy world is never an easy thing to do but it's never impossible if you dedicate yourself to your goals. As more places across the United States and the rest of the world relinquish their grasp and allow people to enjoy the benefits of cannabis there could be ample opportunities for any of us to seek out new shores and start a new.

Maybe one day we can all find our little patch of land in a place where we feel like we belong, or maybe I'm just a dreamer. At least I know I'm not the only one. It's great to hear about people like Sean (aka Xian Juan) exploring their passions and we wish him all the best as he continues on this journey.
